How do you describe Anhedonia?

Posted by metafunj on October 12, 2009, at 21:47:03

Sometimes I wonder if the anhedonia I have experienced since stopping prozac is the same that other people experience.

To me it is almost like the color and essence is sucked out of everything, not just the ability to experience pleasure.

When someone asks me to describe how it feels I say to them:

Do you know that feeling you get when your at that beach that is different than a busy night in bustling city? Do you know the different feeling of a blue sky from a rainy day? Doesn't being in a dingy alley have a different vibe from being in the woods? Do you get a different feeling during each of the different seasons? Do you enjoy crisp fall evenings compared to the vibrance of a spring day?

Then I tell them that I no longer feel those things. The aura is gone. Its like watching TV in black and white.

Is this how anhedonia is to you, or is just not enjoying the things you used to?
