next logical step, medication wise?

Posted by mindtripx on September 6, 2009, at 21:10:07

hi, i'm a new member *waves* although i have read a number of posts.

my question is about where to go next.

I've tried researching this myself but i'm a little confused. I understand that differant medications affect differant neutransmitters but i'm not sure how. to be honest, it all confuses me a little.

so about me;
i'm a 19 year old female from the uk. i've been depressed since i was 12 but i was diagnosed at 14. i've also been diagnosed with mild ocd, ptsd, gad and i have eating issues too. all of the above besides the depression come with stress and as i'm not stressed at the moment they're not bothering me.

i've been on (in order):
flouxetine
sertraline
mirtazapine
amitryptiline
venlexfaxine.
*all for depression.

buspar
chlorpromazine
*for anxiety

ambian
*sleep

the chlorpromazine and ambian work fine, it's just trying to find the right anti depressant. the sertraline, amitriptline and venlafaxine made a SLIGHT improvement, but nothing major. all meds were put up the highest dose recommended before switching.

so with the drugs i've been on and the ones that have worked on whichever neurotransmitter they've worked on, which would you next recommend?

i have a new pdoc and i'm worried because she doesn't know me and god knows what they'll try me on next.

Thanks in advance.
