Umm. Ok.

The thread title is, "...the best meds for anhedonia".

It wasn't, "...the med that works for everyone."

I should add to the list Ritalin, Adderall, Tyrosine, DLPA, Diflucan, Wormwood, Black Walnut Hull, St Johns Wort, Rhodiola Rosea (Mind, Body, Spirit brand only).

Obviously none will work for everyone. But if someone is wondering what the best meds for "anhedonia" are, those are top candidates standing somewhat higher than most any other reasonable treatments. Some of those actually aren't meds but I thought deserved to be listed as well since they can be quite effective.

On the topic of Parnate, I believe it has two things going for it:
1. It works on all the neurotransmitters equally, unlike most others which are unbalanced. And it doesn't just increase them at the synapse, but increases them globally.
2. It has a short-lived (several hours) stimulant mechanism.

I didn't list dopamine agonists because they seem to be too problematic longterm for both physical and mental reasons. I didn't list Selegiline because everyone I have ever heard of it that was on it longer than a year got the same apathetic anhedonia thing that SSRIs commonly do. Despite their longterm problems and backfires, they do have short-term anti-anhedonia potential.

Oh, almost forgot. Hardly ever heard of. Normally thought of for sex. But anti-anhedonia, yeah. Yohimbe bark. Very difficult one to manage though. Too much equals agitation, nervousness, insomnia. I combined crumbs of this years ago with my Prozac and it was like waking from the dead.
