I have tweaked my dosage of Lamictal (lamotragine) and have established my optimal dosage to be 200mg. I have been stable on this dosage for quiet a few years now. Going higher in dosage, and I get cognitive side effects, going lower, and I lose the antidepressant effect. Two months ago, my pharmacy switched me over to Teva brand generic lamotragine. I thought it was my insurance that decided to drop it from its formulary. I experienced a partial relapse within two weeks. I did not attempt to adjust the dosage. I was then switched over to Mylan brand generic lamotrigine. That was even worse than the Teva. I tried to make it work by simply taking more drug. I ended up at 500mg a day and still was not receiving the optimal antidepressant response. When I was placed back on the GSK brand original Lamictal at 200mg, I recovered within 48 hours.
