Did you start to panic while on the generic? I find that during early and full-blown stages of panic I have no desire to drink at all. It's probably a survival response (on my part, anyway).
Your physical relief may have triggered the craving. It's like getting home from a bad day at work--you need something to ease the stress you've been through.
