Ir should make you tired? I don't know -- the brain does unpredictable things and you have been on it for several decades or more from what I recall. Withdrawing from that, even though you had a small dose of it, its possible that your brain reacts to it differently now.
Xanax is generally the only benzodiazepine that is slightly energizing, hence why people believe it has an "antidepressant" effect.
It's also possible that your body's ability to metabolize things has changed with age, not to be rude, but that is another possibility. Also it could have nothing to do with it as causality is not causation and may have to do with your thyroid function or other factors instead.
