You may have misunderstood my previous post. I think you should be aware of the risks of combining MAOIs and stimulants; there is a reported case that resulted in death. But there are also reports of effective use of this same combination when prescribed by an expert psychopharmacologist with appropriate monitoring and safeguards in place.A bad situation can develop when the prescribing doctor is not aware the patient is taking MAOI + stimulant, as in the case below:

DEATH AFTER COMBINED DEXAMPHETAMINE AND PHENELZINE.
LLOYD JT, WALKER DR.The following is an account of a case in which dexamphetamine was taken during a course of treatment with phenelzine, resulting in a rise of blood-pressure, cerebral hemorrhage, and death.
A 30-year-old woman with depression was being treated with phenelzine (Nardil) 15mg, three times daily. One afternoon, after she had been taking Nardil for 5 weeks, she acquired some dexamphetamine tablets from a friend, and took 2 tablets (each equivalent to 10mg dexamphetamine sulfate). Within a quarter of an hour she was complaining of a headache so severe that she called her doctor and told him "her head was bursting." Her blood pressure when taken an hour after the ingestion of dexamphetamine was 150/100 mmHg, but at this time there were no physical signs of any abnormality in the central nervous system. The patient was put to bed and sedated, but it was later found that she could not be roused; when seen again by her doctor 2 hours after the first examination she was comatose, with a blood-pressure of 170/100 mmHg; the patient was sent to the hospital, but died very shortly after admission.
Post-mortem examination showed a hemorrhage in the left cerebral hemisphere disrupting the internal casule and adjacent areas of the left corpus striatum.
