A better strategy is to take 10mg prozac once every 2 or 3 days, and in the meantime customize your own doses of effexor. You can do that by dumping out the contents of a capsule and counting out a custom dose. You are not restricted to 37.5mg. You could make 35mg, 30mg, 26mg, 18mg, whatever the heck you want. Just keep reducing it by 1/2mg to 1mg every day or so.

The method they have you doing is going to send you through repeated withdrawals every time that last dose wears off. That's where prozac can help, as it lasts many days instead of hours.
