Hi Bert.
I agree with Ron that Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) is worth a try as it is good for impulse control and explosive anger as well as bipolar disorder. I don't know if it would help with the obsessive thinking. It just might. You might not have OCD, though. You might, instead, have ruminating thoughts. If you are depressed, these thoughts might subside if you take an antidepressant along with the Trileptal.
What does your case history look like? Family history? Hypomania? Drug treatment?
