Yes. And for those people for whom this true, it is possible that they would do well with psychotherapy.

The NIH noticed something remarkable. Most people entering the program report feeling less depressed during the first 2-3 weeks, regardless of treatment. I experienced this. There is something about the idea of being successfully treated in a clinical setting that evokes optimism and the belief that they are to receive better care in the midst of such a large institutional treatment team. I experienced having more energy and optimism, but no true improvement in feelings of depression, anhedonia, and cognitive impairments.
