I live in the UK where we do have socialized medicince in the form of the NHS. I also have experience of being hospitalized by force, but for manic psychosis, not depression. The hospital I went to was a modern building - only opened in 2004, and the rooms were like motel suites with bed, wardrobes, en suite shower and toilet etc. So the place itself was nice, but most of the people running it were not.
