Nice to meet U2.

The Rohypnol...well......I started having probs getting to sleep when I was a teenager in the early 1980's. So I went to the local doc & one by one he tried me on various sleeping tabs. Once I realized he was basically a drug dealer, I began to manipulate the situation. I wanted to try as many drugs as I could for the short period of time someone with an attitude like mine was destined to be on this planet, ie not that long I thought. I was very Doors then: "Gonna get my kicks before the whole sh*t-house goes up in flames, Alright, Alright, Alright...."

So I kept telling him "No, that one didn't work"...or some such b*llsh*t & he was so gullible too. I mean, how good a liar could I have been to have gone through every benzo there was at the time + those lovely red chloral hydrate that Phillipa seems to like..?

They gave me a bit of a hangover as I recall. And yes, I think they're not recommended anymore on account of them being a good way to knock yourself off.

Want to hear something funny? I remember my parents fighting when I was a kid & sometimes when they'd finish they'd both have a few mls of "Bitone & Phenobarb" - which they told me was a vitamin tonic. Hilarious. I only realized when I was a teenager what they had been taking all those years.... ;)

Unfortunately, prescribing barbiturates was well out of fashion by the time I got interested. I am of the benzo-generation. I used to get temazepam in liquid gel caps which I think are off-market now too as they are often injected. I shoved a lot of crap up my veins but I'd never inject something thick as that goo was inside....(!).

So although it seems ridiculous now, there was my local doc prescribing Rohypnol to a teenager...! I remember they used to cost me 50c each - which was a lot out of my allowance... ;)

What else.....Hmmm...oh yeah. I'd heard about something called "major tranquilizers". How great must they be compared to my "minor" ones, I thought....? So I started to tell the doc stuff to make him prescribe them. I basically read all the Carlos Castenada books, so I had plenty of material to work with. Sure enough, he gave me Melleril (thioridazine) and Stelazine (trifluoperazine) and a couple of others. I worked out pretty soon that these weren't the party drugs I had expected. Made me into a zombie as I recall.

I also got bored one day & took 1/2 the bottle of Stelazine and had an "idiosyncratic reaction". My torso started to go stiff and I couldn't bring my head down. All I could do was stare at the ceiling. I thought "Sh*t....I might stop breathing next". So I left my bedroom & told my parents to ring an ambulance. They gave me Valium at the hospital. At least it took the edge off the awkward drive home.... :)

And oh yeah, they did affect my memory. I could take 10 oxazepam & 10 diazepam & a few slugs of some horrible alcohol - and don't let anyone tell you drugs & alcohol don't mix. Jesus...! I'd be awake & lucid-ish but unable to recall much of what I'd done / said the next day.

Recently I heard from a friend I had at the time how pissed he was at me during those years because we'd talk about something important at night & the next day I didn't know what the hell he was on about. Hmm.......

As I progressed to injecting methamphetamine and heroin & LSD - not together mind you, I found out that Rohypnol was the only thing that helped coming down off the methamphetamine. It really took the edge off the cranky ergly coming down phase.

OK - enough...! Thanks for listening to tonight's broadcast.... ;)

RANT=OFF.

Almost.....OK I have a small complaint about Dr Bob's site.

Q. How come all the good words get ***'d out. Like f*ck & sh*t, etc. Without the bright colors, I can't paint the right picture.

And although I've visited the USA several times, I never could understand how come they were so polite & would put ***'s in to fix up the "f*ck" words, etc. How come a genuine documentary on childbirth gets the vagina all blurred-out on TV. And yet, it's ok to rent horror movies with intense violence and to be able to buy guns as easily as bread & milk. I'm not criticizing - really. I've never met an American I didn't like...! I just don't understand how the apparent prudishness works in with the violence & weapons availability.

Now I've done it...! I've gone & started a holy war I bet. Remember - I said I like Americans..!!!

One more try > SET RANT=OFF
> ahh......
