issues with medications

Posted by therock on March 2, 2008, at 20:55:38

hello everyone,

i have been suffering from recurrent major depression for about 10 years. i have had many different diagnosis and my treating psychiatrist and others have said that what i have is an a-typical mood disorder and does not fall into any general category. it was triggered by using LSD about 10 years ago and the symptoms have basically been un-relenting anxiety and depression.

i have tried almost every medication available. probably 25-20 medications in total over the last 10 years. nothing has worked and many things make me worse. recently, my psychiatrist said that since nothing has helped with my symptoms, the only option for me is to work very closely with my therapist and deal with feelings as they come up and when the urge to flee the relationship comes up to stick it out and keep seeing the therapist and not "flee." over the last 10 years, i have stopped working with every therapist i have had for one reason or another and this time am committed to sticking with the therapist i currently have.

my question is has anyone ever been through a situation like this where meds have failed to control severe symptoms and how did you get through it? thanks so much.
