I had modafinil (Modavigil) which is the same I think. For me it was a lot better than Ritalin. The modafinil definitely gave me more energy straight away (I mean within an hour say). The Ritalin makes me peak in an hour then go down, down, down the rest of the day.
I was taking up to 400mg of modafinil in 2 lots. One when I woke up & the other about midday to get me through the afternoon. I would be a little concerned taking stimulants much later as you may have trouble trying to get to sleep, which will make you tired, which will make you want more stimulants, etc, etc, and down you go...!

The only reason I stopped taking the modafinil was because of the co$t. I heard that there's going to be a generic version "one day soon"...I hate Ritalin :(
