If you're asking about the "warm feeling" you get when you take it, I'd have to say that's probably psychological -- not physical. Prozac stays in your body a long time, so your blood levels would be pretty constant on it in a very short time. In fact, the last time I took it, I was taking one pill every other day for a constant level. If you're feeling something at the time you take it, or in a short time afterwards, that's not likely to be the Prozac.
As for neurogenesis, that's probably not at the root of what you're describing, either. You're describing life when you talk about new experiences and new sensations -- not the growth of new nerve cells.
How are you doing on finding a therapist? And have you considered -- strongly considered, as in started looking -- getting a second opinion from another psychiatrist? You've said that your current psychiatrist graduated from medical school in 1955 or so, as I recall, which would make him rather elderly. While there's a lot of good that comes from experience, it hasn't sounded from your posts as though you were on the most effective treatment plan.
