In reply to Attn. Blueberry.. If you can comment on Ritalin., posted by Mishal on January 5, 2008, at 22:33:11
Just to clarify, it was not said that ritalain doesn't have crashes, but rather it had minor crashes compared to provigil...with me. I'm sure it is different for others. A ritalin crash was shallow and short lasting, and easily predictable at about 4 hours after dosing when it was wearing off. Provigil crash was deep and long lasting and unpredictable, sometimes happening right after a dose, sometimes not at all, and sometimes at about when it would be expected as the drug wore off. With ritalin another dose fixes the crash. With provigil another dose sometimes does nothing at all. Again, these are just my own experiences.
My personal opinion is that ritalin is good for short term fine tuning, for example helping to speed up a response from a newly started ssri, reducing initial fatigue, etc. If someone truly benefits in terms of ADD or ADHD then maybe longterm is ok. For fine tuning depression though, I don't know, I am a little wary of ritalin or adderall. For longer term use I think adrafinil or provigil are safer routes.
Just opinions though. Someone else may see it just the opposite. Someone else may have totally different experiences.
