I'm not sure Phillipa. I've never been a fan of giving labels to symptoms. It just isn't much help to me. I've seen SSRIs be the best mood stabilizers for bipolar people when mood stabilizers were not. And vica versa. And all kinds of off-label drugs treating various conditions much better than the drugs that were highly correlated with the supposed condition.

All I can say is, if you are to consider other meds, look at what you have not tried, whether it makes any sense or not, and go there. I mean for example, hyperactive kids can be calmed down with a powerful stimulant like ritalin? People whos anxiety is still overwhelming even with 20mg klonopin? And yet it is almost completely cured with lithium instead? You know what I mean?
