Hi,
When I first started Nardil in 1996 it took about five or six weeks for the med to kick in. When it did it was like none of the other forty plus combination of medications I have ever taken for depression and social anxiety. It was almost like getting struck by lightning. One day I was totally hopeless and the next day all of the answers were very clear.

I did have a touch of hypomania, which honestly felt good after being depressed for so long. You have to be careful with this though; you can end up spending too much, gambling to much, and just taking to many chances. The hypomania will generally go away spontaneously. I have seen many people on the board interpret this as poop out. The hypomania is a side effect and not the true antidepressant effect of the medication. If you think the med is pooping out just try to remember what it felt like with the major depression. There are options if the antidepressant effect truly does go away. Increase the dosage: 1mg/kg of body weght is the accepted effective dose. Augment with lithium, benzos, atypical antipsychotics, bupropion(though officially contraindicated)among others.
Be Well,
Jedi
