Re: Seroquel as an antidepressant?

In reply to Seroquel as an antidepressant?, posted by UgottaHaveHope on November 10, 2007, at 5:09:43

Hi there. I have recently found Seroquel to be very effective for my depression. I have been using on and off for the insomnia component of my bipolar depression. I then read a study on how it had been proven to have antidepressant effects from 300mg. I had been using 100mg at night for sleep. I needed a boost in mood and functioning as I was on a low dose of Effexor XR (only 75mg). Over a few nights I increased it to 300mg. After about a week on this dose I can say I haven't felt this good in years. I seems to eliminate the 'clutter' around the more significant thoughts that I have. It is as if unnecessary and often negative thought processes have made way for higher thinking. My anxiety is non existant and my mood is calm, content and stable. In a few weeks I'll drop the Effexor and see how go on Seroquel alone. If it works, it will be the answer to all my symptoms.

I am glad to have experimented on myself. It seems to have paid off. All the best. This might be just what you need.
