I second Netch's suggestion on the Lamictal. I found it great at the lower dose range since I'm not bipolar, but needed stability in moods. I've gained about 50 pounds on SSRIs that I know are due to the drugs. I've chosen to live with it for now and perhaps go on a strict long-term diet to control the weight gain. Well, that and I'm going hiking for 6 months so I expect the weight to come off and then use the diet to keep it off.
