Valium -- Tooth Extraction. . . connection?

Posted by DiscoPuppy on October 4, 2007, at 15:24:44

I am deathly afraid of the inevitable. Yes, I must get all of my wisdom teeth pulled. I've waited long enough (in my early 30s now), and thought I could get away with not having to do this, but recent X-rays revealed that the roots have a potential to dig into my nerves. Yikes!

My oral surgeon gave me two choices for this procedure. One WITH a valium drip and one WITHOUT. The cost is SIGNIFICANTLY different.

What is the function of a valium drip in this application? I am already prescribed Klonopin for my extreme anxiety thinking about this procedure. In your opinion, is it worth it to pay the extra to get the valium drip? I prefer not to be conscious during the procedure, but I also have to think about the practical $ide of things.

Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated!
