Not *everyone* says that -- in some people, Adderall can increase depression. Mileage varies, so I wanted to warn you that what's better for some won't necessarily be better for you.

Methylphenidate does come in long acting versions, too, by the way. Ritalin LA and Concerta are both long acting.
