It need not be all doom. All I was really trying to say was that for tryptophan to cross the blood-brain barrier easily you need a fairly high ratio (not ammount) of carbs to a low-ish ratio of
protein.

And dont forget your vits & mins, especially Zinc, a deficiency of which can only add to or even cause anorexia. Nothing from experience, just what I've read.

Ever thought of adding an amino acid supplement to your regime? Available from health food shops you simply take them with water. They contain all the essential aminos. They are essential so can only do good & wont effect your calorie intake. Just a pitty they're not free. Take these some hours before your tryptophan. Also have you tried taking your whole daily tryptophan dose at night?

Its known that euphoria can be experienced some hours after a large-ish (5+gram) dose of tryptophan. I know, I've tried it before going to a techno club high as a kite! Got the idea from a book called Legal Highs.
