Hey all. I hope you're all doing well or at least better than usual. :)
I have a question. I've been on Xanax XR (Actually Alprazolam ER) for quite a while. My problem is that at 3mg/day (1mg/3x day) it's not enough but I upped it to 4mg/day (1mg/4x day) and I find myself slipping backward and feeling worse.
I've been questioning my bodies reaction to Alprazolam in both the ER and Immediate Release Formulations for a long time now. It seems like I actually GET anxious from Alprazolam sometimes. And I know it has definitely made my mind less sharp.
Does anyone know of something better that is NOT short acting like Regular Alprazolam (Xanax)? I have tried Klonopin in the past (actually the generic) and it seemed like that made me kind of depressed. Although I feel the Alprazolam does that too, just not as bad.
I am visiting a new Psychiatrist tomorrow and wanna talk about a possible switch. Also I know Xanax/Alprazolam is supposedly more potent than like Ativan and Klonopin. I don't want her to switch me from 3mg of Alprazolam to 3mg of something weaker because I'm afraid of my anxiety getting worse.
Also I realize I will probably have to taper off the Alprazolam ER while getting onto something else because i have been through Xanax withdrawal and it's HORRIBLE!
So anyone have any suggestions? I really could use them as I can never get the right dosage of Alprazolam ER and the Regular Release is too short acting and I constantly have breakthrough anxiety. Heck I am even having that with the ER version!
Help!
Thanks and take care.
Hugs,
Baby Bunny
