This is hitting the nail......

Posted by steel on June 27, 2007, at 13:30:09

I am pasting this from and away of its home since it sat in that messy thread where things got a little ugly, hope the poster doesent mind but he stepped on something i think is so true for some and not others, and hope it can help everyone understand and appreciate that it may not be as easy to access help for different people

Unfortunately, due to my financial situation, I have to go to a low-cost clinic.

I get to see my psychiatrist only once a month. He is never available except for the 15 minutes I see him once a month. You cannot cancel an appointment, even ahead of time, without having to go through a long and painful process of re-establishing your psychiatric care; the process includes seeing a social worker, (paying for such visit), and explaining the reason why you missed the appointment. The social workers for this type of problems can only see you two days a week, in a margin of 3 hours in the morning, a time when I am usually at work or in school. So since I had to cancel one of my appts recently due to an important personal reason, I will have to go through this process. I might get to see my psychiatrist in 1-2 months. In the meantime, I can't go up the dose. Yes, it is this hard when you don't have money and need to go to a low-cost clinic with ridiculous rules.

To top it all, my doc doesn't know much about Nardil. He asked me to download the list of restrictions from the Internet and to make sure I followed the diet. But he can't answer too many questions about it. It's rough to be treated under these circumstances.
............................................

Now my situation is similiar to his in this way,i live in a small area, and lots of docs work out of big offices together.I was spoiled and had a doc i could make cancelations with anytime,i sure dident appreciate it,she moved, now and since its been,

And the top ones are,

1.Sorry sir but he/she is not accepting new patients now.

2.Yeah he is booked for the next two months solid.

3.When i was asking,to which i stopped,...no sir he/she does not work with Maois

4.No sir we do not take etc etc insurance

After painstaking effort of finding one,you wait out the long wait, only to HOPE you and the doc have a good ,ah i cant spell this so ill just try, repor together.

Sometimes its not the patient,or doc, some times people simply have different views.

Point is now you are in months of being UNTREATED and you are very SCARED AND DESPERATE,i know this feeling well, and its horrid you just wanna go to a gp and say LISTEN,your a doc right, thats a diploma right?HELP ME !!!!!!!! DAMN IT be human and help me!

I actualy thought this driving by my gp once in the midst of a doc search.

I also know of people who do get help from there gp,as well as switch docs easly as it just is the case in the location.

Thanks for this post,im glad im not alone,i know its scary when the help is there but you have to fight a war with no energy to get it.

Im hoping to stay with mine now because i know when a doc cant do any good for me usualy minutes into the session.

Sorry for the long post,cheers!
