Anyone only on long-acting Xanax?

Posted by chiron on May 22, 2007, at 9:36:38

Well because I have weird and often opposite reactions to meds (I've tried about all of them), my dr. suggested I just keep trying Xanax, which hasn't caused weird reactions.
I have been on pretty steady the last week for depersonalization and some weird sensations. It has helped with my new increased anxiety (which has seemed to replace the agitation), but I am nervous about the addiction. He said some people have a long-term problem and need to take it long-term.
The depersonalization has mostly improved, but I have been really really down the last few days. Usually I cycle a little so I have the hope that it won't always be this bad, but it is really sticking around and I don't know if I can even work, I may need to go on FMLA or something.
Could my body still be adjusting to the 6 weeks of Emsam even though I have been off of it a month?
My dr suggested we try the long-acting Xanax for a week, and then maybe giving Lamictal or Lithium another try even though they have seemed to increase my agitation in the past.
The only thing that has ever really helped me is ect, but I have too much anxiety right now to try that again (and you can't take calming meds before going in)
