Lexapro - should I up the dose?

Posted by Deniseuk190466 on April 16, 2007, at 11:10:01

I've been taking Lexapro 10mg for six weeks now and the apathy and anxiety are still there. This sort of feels like when I took zooloft for about three months.

I see the psychiatrist tomorrow and I think I'm going to ask to up the dose to 20mg but then I'm thinking is she going to leave me on that dose for another six weeks until we have a review ???

I've heard that some people have to take 40mg of Lexapro to get any results and I know from my experience (this time round) I need high doses to get any effect. The psychiatrist previously had me on 60mg of Seroxat in order to get a response but I only took 40mg because I felt that was helping.

I don't want to spend the next six weeks on 20mg and then another six weeks on 30 and then another six weeks on 40mg. I know I'm jumping the gun a bit.

Has anyone on this board found success at 20mg of lexapro when they've needed high doses of other SSRIs in order to get a response?

Thanks.....Denise
