They use firms -- but as for the generic drug's actual name there is a bit of consistency in suffixes

-barb* (barbiturate)
-cillin, -cycline, -oxacin, etc. (antibiotics)
-oxetine (e.g. fluoxetine, paroxetine, duloxetine, certain antidepressants)
-mab (monoclonal antiboties) e.g.
-*vir* antivirals
