I can only speculate. Tourette's spectrum has an intuitive link to your concerns. Clonazepam is rather unique among the benzos, as it has anticonvulsive properties apart from the GABA regulatory effects. Temporal lobe hyper-excitability could be the issue, and that has been said to be well controlled by Lamictal (lamotrigine). Rather than trying to fix clonazepam, maybe a switch?
