I've read that amineptine was supposed to cause acne by increasing dopamine, which leads to decreased prolactin, which in turn leads to increased testosterone, causing the acne. Since tranylcypromine/parnate increases dopamine by several mechanisms, maybe it's this same chain of action.

In that case, though I know nothing about hormones, maybe a hormonal med like birth-control would have an effect, by somehow changing the balance away from testosterone...just speculation.
