Unfortunately yes, or little diagnosis or little treatment -- just ask or read through the databases at NORD (National Organization of Rare Diseases) http://www.rarediseases.org/ .

The FDA does provide some relief for patients with "orphan drugs", which are defined to help fewer than 200,000 patients. There may be fast-tracking, I believe subsidies may come into play, I don't know how much.

I find the whole situation an impossible one, fraught with little hope at times, some random successes and much uncertainty and guesswork. It just gets very tiring to go through the lifecycles of depression and its revolving door...I feel sorry for my pdoc that his options are so plentiful but so unpredictable...SG
