They do sell "preservative-free" saline and other things but they're more expensive.
And then there's the tartrazine (FD&C Yellow #6) allergy -- not totally common, but some people have it, and not only does it appear in candy but it also unnecessarily appears in certain doses of medication to vary the color so people know what size pill it is. Tartrazine is very yellow, agreed, but they could use something else.
