I tried lamictal a couple of years ago for a short time. I also experienced an interesting mood boost for a few days, but it was very fleeting. I was never able to go much higher that 50mg per day. While I never developed the rash I did start to get very itchy. The biggest problems were the cognitive side effects: I had trouble remembering simple things, concentrating and generally felt zombified.
