Hi Meri,

I am glad you are giving Effexor a chance. Many side effects mitigate after between one and three weeks. Also, as with other ADs, people are often underdosed. So, they try a week or two at a relatively low dose like 75mg, feel more side effects that improvement in mood, and give up. People should give a dose of at least 225mgs enough time to be effective--four weeks minimum. I have been on and off Effexor several times. Once it kicked in on the fifth day, another time not until the end of the fourth week.

Also, for a number of people the severity of Effexor side effects is in inverse proportion to dose--the higher the dose, the fewer and less severe the side effects. This was the case with me.
