In the case of Xanax, it stops the panic,
dead in its tracks - it's amazing; but
if you keep taking Xanax every day, for
say a couple of months, like all addicting
drugs, it becomes weaker and weaker in
strength, and you have to raise the dose.

If you get addicted to benzos, they are
hell to get off of -- that's why they
are prescribed "as needed" - properly
prescribed - the only exception i know
of is clonazepam - steady for many many
years but not good for acute panic.
