So just a note, when taking lithium make sure to keep testing your thyroid. Now I have to wait 4 weeks, get retested, and then decide if I need to see an endocronologist. Oh and lithium didn't make me feel any better.
I'm sensitive to lithium posts and noticed
yours right away. It's not suprising that
lithium should screw up your thyroid. Mine
would, without thyroxine, be functioning
at 1-3% of its pre-lithium state, according
to my doctor. Synthroid is the necessary
drug to add to lithium.I was tested within the first year when
starting lithium. As for 900mg for adjunct -
wow - I thought a smaller amount would be used. But in any case, I just want to tell you that
lithium induced hypothyroidism is to be expected
rather than not.But I am sorry it does not agree with you.
My dr. has always told me there are alternatives,
but I like it.BTW, since you just started i don't think
your thyroid level is irreversible. I'm not
so sure that is the chronic cases like mine --
there's some stuff on that on PubMed and it
seems controversial.Squiggles
