The first night on Effexor, I don't think I even dozed.
That lasted, as I recall, about two and a half nights. And while I wasn't asleep, I was still calmer, so it was restful insomnia.
Once I got past the initial insomnia, of two or three days, it helped my sleep. The initial day or two of insomnia really and truly was NOTHING like what the drug did for the remaining few years I took it.
I hope that gives you hope. And that it helps you find the patience to stick with it.
