Some do gain weight from Parnate, but only a fairly small percentage gain more than 7-8 lbs. from what my pdoc said. I considered that an acceptable amount, although anything more than that I would have freaked.
I took quite a bit of Parnate and didn't have much or any problem--
Wellbutrin is great if it works, but (again from what my pdoc said), Parnate tends to be effective with more people.
