Your doc is silly. Acetaminophen has an excellent safety record when taken *properly* - which is more than can be said for a lot of the other drugs s/he prescribes.
Here are the rules for taking acetaminophen safely. Stick to them carefully and you will be fine..........
1. Never take more than 1000mg per dose
2. Always leave at least 4 hours between doses.
3. Never taken more than 4000mg in any 24 hour periodOverdosing on acetaminophen damages the liver. Therapeutic doses of acetaminophen do not damage the liver, even after long term use.
