Lamictal + Parnate?

Posted by fires on May 22, 2006, at 10:28:12

I've been on Lamictal 300 mg for quite a while. Helps a lot with hypomania.

Added Parnate recently. Started at 10 mg, now at 20 mg. Feel horrible: extreme sedation, depression worse, weird breathing (breathe out hard) Very sleepy after eating lunch.

I had great success with Parnate 60 mg (alone) for many years. Can the effects be that much different when combined with Lamictal?

Is it probable that 10 mg of Parnate could be beneficial for depression when on 300 mg Lamictal?

Looks like I'll have to rechallenge Parnate several times to find out whether or not it is the Parnate causing the problems.

Also, why does Lamictal have antidepressant properties? Works on all 3 main neurotransmitters. or favors one over the others?

Anyone?
