I took Cymbalta for about a year and a half, and it was a pretty friendly drug for me after the first couple of weeks -- and a few adjustments to how I took it. At first, I took it the way I always take vitamins and drugs: swallow the handful of pills when I sit down for breakfast, and then start eating. Well, not with Cymbalta for me. I had to eat my egg, then take the pills. Before I figured that out, I had diarrhea, but taking it after eating a few bites fixed that. Other than the diarrhea, though, there were about three days of not liking what it was doing -- just general yuckiness and weirdness, and then pretty much nothing. For me, it was probably rather anxiolytic, and certainly somewhat sedating. That's me, though, and amphetamines can sedate me, so expect your mileage to vary.
Frankly, my experience of it was a good, rather benign drug, with virtually no side effects other than the one mentioned above, which went away. I'd like to say it was an effective antidepressant for me, but that would be a lie. {sigh} Doesn't mean it wouldn't work a treat for someone else, though.
