This has happened to me at times too - although the effect always come back, sometimes really strong! It is a very strange drug. I keep my dosage around the 900mg mark. Although depending on how i'm feeling, I'll sometimes reduce it by 300mg, depending on how i'm feeling. I once reduced by 600mg. When I increase, wow, the effects come back pretty good. It can be a balancing act at times, but now I've been doing well with it the past few months, probably better than I did when I first started it along time ago.

That is one hell of a high dosage!
Do you take the generic or Brand Neurontin? I first took Brand, then got switched to Generic. I did Generic for a while but always thought it was slightly weaker. So then I changed back to Brand - it made quite a difference indeed, felt alot more potent. Definitely not a placebo effect.. If you're on generic and you havent been on brand, it "may" help alittle more. Plus, you may find its actually cheaper than the generic!
