Here's the longer answer. When you use a drug in liquid form, usually you put some in your mouth, and hold it there. The membranes lining your mouth are not chemical-proof. They leak. Dissolved drugs can pass right through those membranes, and enter your circulation directly. In fact, some of that drug will immediately encounter the blood/brain barrier, permitting rapid absorption into the brain.
In contrast, when you swallow a pill, it encounters stomach acid, then membranes with very large amounts of digestive enzymes right in them, then the liver. And the liver is full of enzymes, some the same as the digestive membranes, but others with much enhanced destructive power. Digestion is designed to break molecules down. And that happens to drugs.
So, the oral route probably gives you a higher "real" dose of the drug, to begin with (none broken down), delivers it right beside the brain, and goes to work right away.
You might find that holding a pill in your mouth until it dissolves has a similar effect to the liquid form of the drug.
