Zyprexa is used mostly in cases of schizophrenia,
I see, *and* bipolar -- never could figure out
these ubiquitous drugs. Yes, it would be scary
to become schizophrenic without knowing the cause
in such a case.In the case of lithium, and the bipolar symptoms
it was very gradual. It took about 4 months to
hit the turn-around point from hypomania, to mania, to mixed states to psychotic depression.
When that did happen it did so almost overnight.I knew something was wrong because I stopped having lithium side effects, more energy, more
skin sensitivity, less appetite, less sleep
etc. all the side effects of lithium. But I did not know how to interpret this - in a way I was so happy and wrote to my dr. about this wonderful new
preparation of lithium that did not have so
many side effects. Still, there was as shadow of a doubt; i diluted an old lithium cap with this new batch, but they seemed to appear and taste
the same, with one a little more salty. When dried out and distilled into powder, there was a little
less in one sample than the other and it was more
compact sort of. I couldn't figure it out
without chemical instruments. My impression is
that the mixer/drug Ratio powder was different. So the dose may have been different. As for the source, maybe it was counterfeit, maybe it was old --
i don't know with certainty.Anyway, I could not get a reply on this from
the suppliers (name of pharmacy omitted as I am
*not* suing) and I did the most direct thing, called my dr. and switched to my old pharmacy to the old preparation. There was warning issued from HEALTH CANADA some months previous to this that the lithium was corrupted -- but not for this particular dose cap - i don't know the exact supplier. So that warning may have applied to this preparation as well.It was a struggle to get stable again and I became
suicidal, and agitated walking non stop for hours.
It reminded me of what I was like 20 some yrs.
ago when I was first put on lithium.But there is a good side to this -- the dx
*bipolar* is now certain.Squiggle
