Hi woolav,

thought I'd just throw this out in case it might help in the future...

My daughter was on a low dose of Prozac for a few months, about 5 years ago (19 yrs. old at the time) for a serious (but thank God, brief) depressive episode, including some suicidal thoughts. It worked really well for the depression, but she was EXTREMELY sensitive to it, to the point it made her feel sedated, numb and bizarre (her words) at 20 mg. So, the pdoc had her break open the capsule and divide the contents each day. She took half in a glass of o.j. each morning, the other half at night, but ONLY if she felt really bad.

10 mg. a day was all she could usually tolerate b/c of the side effects. Of course, that's not usually even a therapeutic dose, although it was for her, and I'm not advocating doing this without checking with your pdoc.

Just something to consider, if necessary.

BTW, I was also on Prozac for 2 years, and I took my 20 mg. each morning. I guess my experience won't help much as to timing, as I really didn't have any s/e after the first 4-6 weeks - just good depression relief. It did make me a little tired at first, so pdoc said take it at night if you like, but that s/e wore off so it didn't matter.
