I'm on the hunt for a good sleep med I can take long term. Forget zyprexa...no longer sedating...seroquel doesn't get me through the whole night...trazadone and remeron totally stink...xanax I like sometimes but don't want it every night...ambien and company not that great.
I'm considering either doxepin or elavil, very low doses. Comments here as well as research shows that these two are good for sleep and also good for sleep architecture.
What I'm worried about is carryover effects into the next day. You know, the usual tricyclic stuff like feeling drugged, dry mouth, blurry eyes, maybe decrease in sexual desire. I don't want to be dragging around half the day waiting for it to wear off from the previous night.
Anyone tried these? Any comments on next day side effects at low doses?
Current meds are 7.5mg lexapro and weaning off of 2.5mg zyprexa, possibly trying wellbutrin soon. Since I usually respond to low doses, maybe even just a bit of elavil or doxepin might help my depressive symptoms.
