My ER doc (when I was admitted by my dad and sister because they were convinced I needed to get into a hospital, even though I had not done anything or was even suicidal whatsoever) discharged me within an hour.

Knowing I had been well-versed in psychopharmacology, he suggested I look into Trileptal for mood disorder with my doc (Nurse Practioner I see as an outpatient).

I mentioned it to my N.P., but he goes, "oh, that's generally used for pediatric patients... Lithium is more preferred in your situtation."

I'm not sure if this is because it's labeled for children only (?) or what, but the ER doc told me it's his pet drug for bipolar (he didn't use that term, but I think we all figure out each psychiatrist has a pet med for each disorder).
