Lets just say that MAOI's were discovered because they noticed that a bunch of crochety, 75 year old war vetrens, who were being treated for TB (I think) started to show signs of spontainious but robust euphoria.
ECT is definately not the end of the road.
You could even probably avoid the MAOI diet by trying a combination of selegeline (MAOB) and moclobemide (MAOA).
