I have met about 2 or maybe even 3 persons in my life that are (compulsive?) liars. I think all of them have actually been aware of their lying and have lied to make people like them. BUT, this only works for a short while, people start to see through their lies pretty fast and then they become hated instead. But sometimes i have felt that they actually believe in their own lies. As for myself sure i sometimes pull a white lie like telling my mother i've been to the gym(while i actually watched a movie in the sofa) and stuff like that. But i never lie about serious stuff and never to a person to "gain" from it.
