Cymbalta is metabolized by the CYP2D6 enzyme. Wellbutrin is a strong inhibitor of the CYP2D6 enzyme. Therefore, if you take the two together you will be getting a greater effective dose of Cymbalta than the actual size of the dose you are taking would indicate.
